What is the CoEPP global namespace

The CoEPP global namespace is available on storage served through Xrootd.

Xrootd accesses files via their relative filenames and locations. The root directory is /coepp. It points to group area directories named after projects with CoEPP, namely Atlas, Belle, Misc and Local. The Local directory itself points to user areas. This is where users have directories named with their username. You should place ATLAS (Belle) data in the ATLAS (Belle) group directory.

This global name space is needed for accessing and referencing data located in off-site storage. The directory structure is replicated across CoEPP storage nodes, so far in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

Here are examples of how to navigate the Xrootd served storage using “xrd” on the command line. Though this is to be discouraged as one should know the location of the dataset availables in the storage.
